-
Content placeholders are an ASP.NET server side concept and do not appear on the client
-
Yes indeed, I understand, the way to do that is to create a simple ASPX page and loop through all pages on the site in the OnPageLoad event and change the caching property in code. I will make a video on that, it is only few lines of code to accomplish this instead of doing it all manually, which take a long time.--
-
Not necessarily, it depends on how you have set up the Master Page.
-
http://www.lulu.com/content/3959109
-
For security reasons, or to hide the fact that you are using Sitefinity for your site as a secret weapon.
-
In general I would do as little hard coding as possible in the master page, but it is mostly user preference.
-
Fwiw, we host videos through a third party service and embedding them on the page. This may well depend on your volume.
-
Yes.
-
By using libraries, all images are stored in the database. When using images folder, they are not. If everything is in the DB, it makes it very easy to deploy the site from server to server.
-
Programmatically it can be done. News and Events are the only one that have this built in for now.
-
Yes, you will be able to with the changes to IIS I mentioned.
-
Libraries if the images are not too big (~few MB max)
-
Video Coming Soon
-
That is correct
-
Yes, as you can see we use flash on www.falafel.com, use the Flash Manager in the editor to accomplish that.
-
No, not as of 3.7 SP2, you will need to use the Flash Manager to deal with FLV and SWF files.
-
Yes you can
-
YES very much so! Otherwise you will end up with headaches in master pages as far as relations between location and hierarchy. DON’T use images directly in templates, Use CSS instead.
-
The schedule is for news modules and events only
-
http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/add-meta-tags-to-pages.html
-
We will release a video at tv.falafel.com as an advanced topic soon.
-
No, not without some extra admin template coding to make this happen.
-
http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/sitefinity-3-x/developing-with-sitefinity/how-to-use-the-viddler-video-provider.aspx
-
No, not in this particular training.
-
Not without some customization to the Admin backend code. Not out of the box.
-
Not out of the box, but won’t be hard to do using a scheduling mechanism.
-
When collecting from the library, yes.
-
If it's reproducible certainly report it to Telerik! I have not seen that before and we use PDFs a lot on several public sites.
-
Reopen the master page again in an editor and add the ContentPlaceHolder
-
It has to go under the \Sitefinity directory, otherwise the license is for a domain you are not running under.
-
No
-
Not in 3.7, there is talk to enable this possibly in a future version.
-
Yes, it is a feature of ASP.NET 2.0 and is automatically available in Sitefinity by default
-
Yes, you can read more about this here. http://www.sitefinity.com/support/kb/sitefinity-3-x/working-with-multiple-membership-and-role-providers.aspx
-
http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/resetting-administrator-password.html
-
Advanced, will try to create a video on this in the near future. Definitely possible!
-
If you have MS SQL Studio Manager, you can profile the SQL calls and grab them and make them into a script to run again and again. You can probably request the script from the Sitefinity Forums and Someone at Telerik will send them to you.

-
It's the same as other controls you're familiar with.
-
The RadControls do have an install
-
No, you will have to use Page load on a WebCustomControl on that page or place the code on the template itself, you can’t do it on a page as it does not exist, it is in the database.
-
Yes, take a look at the extensionless url answer above.
-
Yes, indeed, I am sorry I did not show this, I will make a video and place on TV.Falafel.com shortly
-
It is loading each THEME in your App_Theme directory. Each Theme has its own CSS file(s)
-
Yes. You need to use the database and undersand how to turn off encryption in the web.config file for a bit until you are done and them turn it back on.
-
This isn't so much a Sitefinity issue as a general CSS issue. It depends on the placement of the CSS within the page/controls as to which styles will be applied. You can also force any specific style by using the “!important” tag
-
No, that is a different thing altogether and requires working with the XML config files of the RadEditor.
-
The websites will need to use the same database.
-
The Advanced, Developer class. This class today is for End Users and Site Admins
-
Yes, but you will need to write code for this to customize the behavior. Not available out of the box.
-
Wordpress, monstertemplate,FreeCSSTemplates.org, anywhere you get normal web templates
-
Yes, be careful what you wish for.
-
The generic content in the Modules are shared content
-
It depends. Streaming from a database is always slow. The number of hits and type of streaming will affect your decision of where to host video content.
-
The documentation is on the www.sitefinity.com site http://www.sitefinity.com/support/user-manual.aspx , the book by us is available at www.lulu.com
-
It's the ability to reuse content elsewhere on the site like a ""snippet"" if you will
-
You will need to customize to share the content between databases if each site is a separate Sitefinity site. It can definitely be done by manipulating the databases.
-
Generally, this index related so you shouldn't have to worry about that too much. Of course that said you want to make sure your DB is healthy and the hardware in good shape
-
Yes
-
The <title> HTML tag is where the browser gets it's title which is what you want for SEO purposes.
-
You could use any editor that you are comfortable with.
-
In many cases you can start from something existing though it's largely dependent on the skills of your designer.
-
SF is a standard ASP.NET application so you'd want to look at the general issues between the two types of web apps. I have tried it both ways and it works fine either way.
-
Both are fine
-
Not by default.
-
Yes, using templates.
-
Yes it will be at the top of the admin page when you log in under pages. You can filter on each group.
-
Yes, It is a setting on the Blog View
-
No, JS is needed as DHTML requires it
-
Yes

http://www.sitefinitywatch.com/blog/09-05-15/Deleting_Sitefinity_Blog_Comment_SPAM.aspx
-
Can’t predict the future. I have upgraded dozens of site from 3.2 to 3.5 to 3.6 to 3.7 to 3.7 SP2 and was pretty pleased of how easy it always was.--
-
Not in this release, take a look at the Marketplace at www.sitefinity.com/marketplace there are 3rd party modules that can help with this.
-
No you would generally create separate pages for these
-
You can do both, Library(Database) or file system.
-
Funny you asked, we just released this on March 6th 2010 http://store.falafel.com/p-83-falafel-newsletter-group-importer.aspx
-
Show the site in different languages like French, Spanish, Chinese, etc…
-
That's not a requirement. For example see this page on our TV blog: http://tv.falafel.com/sitefinitytv/10-02-24/Sitefinity_URL_Rerouting.aspx
-
Comment moderation is supported as well see Blog Settings in SF
-
Not out of the box but it can easily be added. I will have a video on this in the near future.
-
Blocking the IP Address is supported
-
I suppose that depends on what you mean by ""append"" :) You can certainly use the database beyond SF but you'll have to write you own code
-
Yes using control templates.
-
Yes
-
For DB stuff see http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/introduction.html Developing with SF|Data Access
-
Yes
-
That's not a built-in feature but easily added using the Sitefinity API. We will make a video on this in the near future.
-
Use the META tag on the page properties to redirect to another site or you can write a handler to do this yourself.
-
You don’t need to do anything, the site will compile itself on first hit if the Web.Config file has changed (in most cases)--
-
Yes of course
-
Yes you can, the file are available under \Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates…--
-
No Need it is all automatic
-
Yes and tons of customers do that with the Standard version
-
Yes for the Standard version, NO for the community version
-
While it's possible it's a programmatic task using the Blogger MetaAPI
-
Use the RadControls version that comes with the version of Sitefinity you have or wait for a new update to Sitefinity itself. I would NOT mix and version of the RadControls DLLs in Sitefinity.
-
Yes
-
You need to add the assembly to your toolbox, check on the licensing with Telerik please.
-
It will show all. You can customize this behavior in a module of your own. Take a look at the Marketplace as well.
-
This is picked up from the HTTP header information by default
-
Notifications are not built into 3.7, but easy to implement using the Sitefinity API
-
Place it in the \Sitefinity Directory on the production server
-
Yes http://tv.telerik.com/sitefinity/webinar/sitefinity-membership-role-providers
-
You will need to have a human perform the translation; none of the tools out there can do this reliably. Just for efforts you can use Google Translator and send the content to be translated on the fly.
-
http://www.sitefinity.com/help/developer-manual/controls-adding-controls-to-sitefinity.html
-
No of course not, that would be very bad, you get new functionality and bug fixes.
-
Not currently.
-
No, not possible right now, just for pages, again this would be not that hard to implement using the Sitefinity API--
-
By default the toolbar supports just a few options for HTML tags.
-
Yes, it is a setting in the Web.Config file under <localization>
-
No, but it is a good suggestion.
-
That actually a format string setting which requires some knowledge of .NET format strings.
-
Yes
-
The browser passes the current locale via the HTTP header which is what SF uses to determine which content to serve
-
Through CSS is the recommended mechanism
-
Not by default but it could be easily implemented as the data is already in the database
-
Yes, using the “History” tab for each page in the Admin section. You will be able to rollback to any previous version
-
Yes, permission is inherited unless you deliberately break the inheritance
-
Yes and they are all logged for each vote.
-
See AllowCommentsModeration http://www.sitefinity.com/support/kb/sitefinity-3-x/the-content-view-control-and-its-offspring-blog-posts.aspx
-
http://www.sitefinity.com/marketplace.aspx
-
Make sure you are on the domain that you register the site for.
-
Yes, I would say .NET C# AJAX (jQuery) that sort of thing
-
Yes, there are several approaches you could use for this like using a blog specific master page
-
Yes, you need to open the App_Data\Configuration directory and add the name of the template that you want to change to the Telerik.Sitefinity.Configuration.ControlsConfig.xml file. Some modules also require that you click on EDIT in Sitefinity, then click on Advanced, to set the view for the List or the Single view to the name of the ASCX control you modified. I will make a video of this as it is a bit confusing.
-
Not in this release, it is a one shoe fits all right now
-
All Database driven, no actual pages reside on the file system. Performance is very well optimized in Sitefinity--
-
Yes, secure the folder where the PDFs are located with Windows Authentication and set permission to the page that contains them to be not accessible unless authenticated.
-
Yes, you can delete that.
-
Copy and paste in the HTML tab
-
Telerik always include a zip file for “Patching” previous releases. It is as easy as XCOPY files from the zip to the Site.
